becuz theyre rednecks.
Because they’re proud of who they are and make fun of themselves at the same time (Git ‘er done!)
Because none of them own televisions or subscribe to newspapers or magazines to know that they’re being made fun of.
its not in the south thoes dam rednecks get mad
Because the media makes it ok. Take a look at jerry springer, maury povich, and larry the cable guy. They all say its ok to laugh at the plight of the “redneck” or “trailer trash”. Truth is, they just want cheap entertainment. Its sad really.
No-one ever said it was “socially acceptable”,it’s just plain funny!! lol Yeeeeehaaaaa!!! (if I could give myself a thumbs down I would, just to save you the trouble)
Because they tend to be Christian/Conservatives (at least according to the left wing) so it’s ok to pick on them. You can’t make fun of Hollywood or the left coast, they think they are here to save the world, yet they project the image of America around the world that people either envy or hate us for.
Not people…men…white men to be exact. And in my books that too is not acceptable.
Because they make fun of themselves in a good natured way. If you are being mean spirited because you think you are better than another person, then I don’t think it’s ok.
It is not theefore eyyye nmust b cAnadiaAn
They cause the problem by some of the things they do. Watch Americas funnest videos, the really dumb stuff, like launching yourself from a home made catapult, is from red neck country. This is why the last words from most red necks is “Hey guys, hold ma beer and watch this”
Example of redneck joke: You Know You’re in a Redneck Church if… a member of the church requests to be buried in his 4-wheel-drive truck because “It ain’t never been in
a hole it couldn’t get out of”
i think it shouldn’t be so acceptable but more then likely the reason why it is is because they don’t tend to complain about it, a lot of “rednecks” are completely aware of the sociological differences they have and are proud of it. so maybe for a true redneck its not really offensive, i would say the more offensive thing would be to be called a redneck when your not, like i live in Arizona so people from other places ignorantly think all us folks out in da desert er hicks, and were not , so its offensive when i see little skits on TV or whatever where there depicting “rednecks” and making references to the American southwest. we aint rednecks yu hear!
because there red necks and they treated people so unfair .and never looked at there own selfs. look how funny they look with overalls on and chewing tabacoo juice running down there chins .talken about oh hell think ill mosey on down here and get me a pop for me and lucile .lol
because the north won the war
also, i’ve traveled and lived in a few other countries as well…I always notice they treat the ppl from the south of each one as if they are dumb
Why other white people do it:
Well it’s like why does Carlos Mencia make fun of other Mexicans? Why do black people sometimes call themselves “niggers”, when most of us white people would never dream of ever calling them that?
We like poking fun at ourselves. For some reason, making fun of your own group is more “okay” than making fun of someone else. Not quite the same thing as making fun of yourself PERSONALLY, as there are OTHERS who belong to that group.
Why other people do it:
Well throughout history, white people have generally been pretty bad to minorities. They don’t us. The curse of being white is that everyone else assumes you’re an asshole. I kinda think we deserve it, for all the crap we (as a race) have put other people through. Which is why I don’t mind being called a cracker, or white trash.
Also, the stereotype is that rednecks are “stupid”. This is not necessarily true. Many school systems down there are under-funded, but that does not mean that everyone from the South is stupid. People see one example or “specimen” from a group, and generalize and assume that the rest of the entire group is like that. People want to feel superior, and try to prove that they are somehow better than someone else. But in making fun of others that way, they are really not. Hope that helps.
Because we haven’t forgotten that they started the Civil War
I am from Kentucky and I consider myself a redneck. I laugh as hard as anyone over redneck jokes as long as they don’t single out one person as the butt of the joke. Ethnic jokes are really as long as you don’t get your laughs at another particular person. the more outrageous the joke, the better it is. so sic em yankee!!!
