Why Is It That A Lot Of Liberals Will Call Conservatives Stupid Or Redneck Racists Just Because We Do Not?

I hate the term liberal and conservative. I consider myself neither, though at first blush the color of my skin, party affiliation and my dim view of post war policies during the Bush Administration makes me no fan of the Republican Party. When I think of a conservative stupid redneck, for the sake of the discussion lets put a face on it, and say Rush Limbaugh fits the bill. The issues expressed are truly issues, but the content is described in a simplistic dumb way, that does not take into consideration the intelligence from the opposing view. It is just all dumb, and so are “they”. As evidence to my point, look at some of the responses to your question. Well I have a problem with this type of thinking.
The Limbaugh perspective, vomits a useless rhetoric. He is a flamethrower, filled with incendiary remarks. However long his show, it is a itch session, nothing positive or solution oriented. To add insult to injury, everyone that thinks like them are right, they get it. To the conservative principled redneck the opposing point of view can never get it. The whole lump of us are some primordial soup, a gel that sticks together because of the color of our skin. So we agree on everything. We vote because a person is black. Every black wanna be President we vote for as a group. Reverend Sharpton ran for President and we voted for Bill Clinton. Alan Keyes and Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas have some of the best conservative credentials and are considered villains to affirmative action. Does that sound like all black people are liberal, or we agree on every issue because the color of our skin? This is so often how we are portrayed, how simplistic, and insulting. This view point puts the (R) in Redneck.
To be on a receiving end of a conservative is like trying to talk to someone who has the personality traits of obsessive compulsive disorder, on the issue of abortion. It is all they can see, it is the only thing that matters, never mind the world continues to move on with a myriad of pressing issues. When we want to discuss guns in society, it’s as if talking to a person who has a mood disorder, wrapped in schizophrenia.
Black folks love guns. We shoot each other at a higher rate than any other groups in society. Do you think we want our guns and bullets taken from our hands due to the Fed? We love the Glocks, assault weapons, for all for the wrong reason, but we do not want to be without arms, just like the country bumpkin who is a died in the wool NRA member. The difference between the two is membership. Now what does that sound like? This is how it is played in the air waves. The same can be said, about the “rule of law”. When it suits them, all well and good. When the rule of law inconveniences, Scooter Libby or the whole Bush Administration finds themselves at the tip of the sword, all you hear is bullfrogs and crickets. The political will for accountability evaporates into a fine mist. Often it appears to be a double standard, and a self serving politic with conservatives. Their seems to be no regard for people who do not look like them and believe as they do. Isn’t this the problem with the current Republican party? Michael Steel, Republican Party Chair speaks his mind, about abortion and other hot button issues, and he immediately gets chastised by Rush Limbaugh.
The short answer to your question, is it looks like Republicans cannot even talk peaceably among themselves, much-less across the aisle. For your sake and mine, I hope you are right and not naive. I really do, for the good of the country. Our elected officials have failed all of us, and they must take responsibility for getting us into this economic fog that will be with us in the foreseeable future.

I am a liberal, most of my friends are also. Yet for some reason, I don’t resort to what you are saying. As there are the Limbaugh’s who trash talk on the right, there are the same kind of people on the left. Most of the liberals I know, however, are a little more educated in empathy and caring for all people on this planet. That is what makes us progressive. We have no race bias or sexual bias, we just want peace and equal rights for everyone. It actually disturbs me when people mock “rednecks” as it saddens me when racist jokes come from the lips of those I thought I respected.
Your statement is an oover generalization and is in itself, insulting to many people who who be appalled to be categorized in such a way. As you can see, you are encouraging division just by the way your question labels groups. Please reconsider.
We must stop insulting each other and work towards the major issues facing our species. We must stop hating, categorizing, generalizing, and insulting. We must start loving our neighbors. I get the feeling that a lot of people who have so much anger in their words are missing fundamental caring for themselves as a member of the human team. Let the anger go, we need you, urgently.

Because liberals believe words can be used as ammunition. Liberals also think the Constitution is biased and exclusionary, and they believe they can say things to get people to think we need to drastically change the things that made this country great. Liberals will resort to name-calling to demean their opponents, because they think like children. Think of a liberal as someone who thinks they know what’s best for you, but needs to resort to whatever will get you to listen to them.

You have to know that whenever a liberal cannot win a debate on substance that they ALWAYS slander, smear, and insult. The reason you see a lot of conservatives doing the same is that we are tired of sitting back and taking it. It high time we grew some backbone and went on the attack instead of “turning the other cheek” all the time. I know as a christian that this is not the right attitude, but I also know there is a time for everything. Now is the time to get aggressive and take back this country!

On the fringes–and i am sorry, the fringe on the left is much larger than on the right–the height of intellectual discourse is insults, denigration, name-calling, and child like stamping of feet if you do not agree with them.
Personally, I do not believe most libs are idiots, they just have unjustifiable positions that are anti-American in nature. Look at the underlying principles of the left and what is allowed for discourse and you will find a largely group-think mentality that does not allow free-speech, free-thinking, free-will, or free-enterprise. For example, the Repubs have Log Cabinites, the left will crucify you if you do not believe in gay rights.
The left is a bastion of intolerence, racism, anti-christianity, anti-achievement, and hatred. The right has these as well but it is truly on the fringe, not part and parcel of the party/ideology like it is on the left. I have been to strict conservative gatherings where pro-abortionist, gay rights, and other lib ideals were espoused. They were not shouted down, and nor were those ideas accepted. On the left’s side, I have been walking on a college campus where signs were posted that no “white, straight, christian male” be allowed on campus on certain days. Who is really more tolerant?
