Why do southern states encourage the other people that make fun of us by talking like hicks?
I mean, it gets really annoying. I live in Georgia and I am surrounded by ‘rednecks’ who have no idea how to speak proper English! The only people I know that can speak proper English are my parents, my older brother, and my teachers. That’s about it. Anyone care to explain?

Cool, I live in GA as well and it isn’t the “hicks” that talk improperly, the folks in the poor side of the big cities cannot even talk proper English.

Honestly, I don’t think it is restricted to the south (it is more prominent here), it happens all over the place.
