Why Do So Many Southern Rednecks Stick With The Republican Party?

Most Southern states are smack in the middle of the bible belt.
They stick with George Bush because he pretends to push their agenda – prayer in school, anti-abortion, anti-gay, and gives money to the religious institutions (faith based groups) to dole out favors to the poor. They really think he is ordained by God to be the president so therefore they remain blind to his misjudgements, and flagrant disregard for the law and the constitution. They also believe that the war was pre-determined and predicted in the bible (wars and rumors of wars). They think anyone killed including soldiers and Iragi civilians is justified by the bible. I would not call them rednecks. I would call them God fearing people that believe what they hear from the pulpits.

I am a republican, and I’m going to stay one because democrats think its okay for people to have abortions and they believe gays should be able to get married and adopt kids, and I’m sorry (i have gay friends) but i don’t think they should be able to get married and adopt kids.

Unfortunately you have not paid attention to your history classes. It does make one think about it though, why would the South, who was single handidly destroyed by the Republican Party and members of the Republican Party, turn around and support the very people who reuinted the nation from the Civil War? For years after the Civil War the Democratic Party was the chief party responsible for Jim Crow Laws and the such. Even in the early 60s the south was solidly Democratic. However, when the liberals came in and started to punish the South for offenses from the Civil War, over a hundred years later, many individuals switched parties and became Republican. The Republican ideals from the origions of the party remain true, however, the Democratic ideals of the original party are just a part of the history books.
And for the profoundly mentally retarted person, DemocraticTexan, look at the state maps of blue versus red, then look at the counties in each state to see if they are red or blue. You’ll be quite surprised to see that almost the entire country votes for the Republican party. Also, the democrats have a nasty habit of having Ghost Votes, and as has been proven, not many of them know how to vote which was seen two years in a row in Miami-Dade County. How hard is it to draw a line or punch a hole, sorry, i forgot, they are retarted.

What a waste of points to ask this question. You are already biased, close minded, and hate filled so why bother. You aren’t going to learn anything new. I suggest you open your eyes and your mind a little and actually listen to why people choose one thing over another. You might actually learn something.

My question is: Why do so many African-Americans stick with the party of slavery, the Democrats? They want to keep black people enslaved today!

Republicans have been proven to be far less educated then democrats. Look at the map of red states vs. blue states.
Blue States are the highest in education and literacy standards: CA, NY, OR, WA, ect.
While red states are TX, AL, OH, ect.
Personally I think the over population of ignorant republicans can be blamed on America’s low education standards.

Trust me, we in the south get that the democrats only care about those on welfare. Those just above that line don’t get squat from them, so we rely on the republicans to trim social programs and keep the military large in order to best help our priorities. Plus, there is that whole abortion thing — many southerners are moral people who understand that abortion is a bad thing. Are those the individual rights you’re talking about?

Well I am from the south. I’d say you are misinformed, but can’t help but agree with 90% of what you say. I live around these people and constantly wonder HUH? WHY? WTF? and I never get any answers. You must understand if you tell someone here you are in college more often you’re laughed at, instead of “Oh really? What’s your major?” And don’t get me started on the re re’s in New Orleans
