Why Do So Many People Assume That Nascar Fans Are Rednecks?
Is it due to movie depliction? I love the sport and yes it is a sport but I also love football and I am female. I work as a pharmacy tech. Certainly not a “redneck” job. I graduated top of my college class, can speak and spell correctly, have all of my teeth and drink alcohol rarely.
I do get bored with reading comments about only rednecks watching NASCAR. In fact, I skip over any answers or comments that even sound as though it is leading in the redneck direction.
Why do people insist on calling it a redneck sport and saying those who watch it are redneck as well?

I whole heartily agree! I am a mother of 4, well educated, I love football too (Go Colts and Cowboys) I know how to spell without the use of spell check and I speak correctly and have been told I have a million dollar smile!
I like NASCAR because I like the strategy of the sport, the fuel mileage, how many laps can be run on green, the pit strategy………..it’s a team effort and those drivers have to be conditioned and skilled to do their job. The crew chief has to be a math and science wizard, this is no sport for dummies!
I will agree some of the NASCAR fans appearance lack much to be desired, but so do the football fans, with their clown hair and colored bellies, but it’s all in fun. When you go to any sporting event you’re there to enjoy yourself, leave the paper work and suits at the office and just hang loose!
So if that’s being a redneck then I guess I am one too. LOL
WHO CARES WHAT THEY CALL YOU, I GREW OUT OF THAT MANY YEARS AGO!! I HAVE BEEN A NASCAR FAN WHEN IT WASN’T COOL….I WAS RAISED IN THE 50′S AND THE SPEEDWAY WAS WITH IN A FEW MILES FROM ME IT WAS JUST A WAY OF LIFE!!
I DON’T DRINK…BUT HONEY WHEN THEM CARS GO AROUND THAT TRACK I GET A HIGH , MY HEART STARTS PUMPING…BEEN THAT WAY FOR 40 YEARS AND IT WANT STOP BECAUSE THEY CALL ME A REDNECK
Well some people get drunk at nascar events and they act like rednecks but that’s not true with all nascar fans.
