Who Was The First Redneck Woman?
I know Gretchen Wilson recorded a song by that name but the term had some history behind it. Was the original redneck woman Lil Abner’s girlfriend Daisy Mae?

Ma Kettle-Remember Pa and Ma Kettle? I used to love watching them.
Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton
Patsy Cline I think was the first out spoken , let ya have it red neck lady ( I say this with all due respect ) She was great !
Well, being called a redneck woman could be considered a compliment because of their common sense and know-how to get their way. I’d vote for Ma Kettle . . . .
Angie Dickinson? Dynamite mama? LOL
I’m thinking Belle Starr or Calamity Jane.
I agree with Gladys, it had to be Ma Kettle. I miss that show.
IDK. I am as country as cornbread but I am not one bit redneck. I don’t equate the two. I would not consider the term ”redneck” to be a compliment. It is more equated with white trash. Maybe everyone does not have the same view about the term.
I think we all are at heart! at the beginning, don’t you think?
The original LIVE one would have to be Minnie Pearl. Proud enough of the price to keep it ON her hat!
Great question…thanks!
i would say one of my old girl friends that hung out around fort bragg nc!!! she drank beer out of a bottle – chew tobacco and played pool!!!
Patsy Cline…..hard drinking and didn’t take any guff off of her men.
Jezebel? Bonnie Parker?
Minnie Pearl is a great redneck woman!
Whoops! i vote for Ma Kettle, you go, Gladys!

Daisy Mae Scragg,from Dogpatch U.S.A.

Mighthave been Mother Maybelle Carter of the Carter family. Could have been Patsy Montana. Could be Kitty Wells. Definitely Loretta Lynn, and Patsy Cline.
I think it must have been one of the Hatfield or McCoy girls.
