When Did The Republican Party Get Labeled As The Party For ‘rednecks’?
Rednecks, white trash, bigots, etc etc. Was it after Bush got elected in 2000, I don’t remember that association with Regan Republicans.

Strange that Democrats should use that label at all for Republicans. The fact that some do (at least on this forum) shows how young and uninformed those posters are.
The term “redneck” originated with the Appalachian Coal Miners and the use of a red bandanna to identify union members. The United Mine Workers of America (UMW) and rival miners’ unions appropriated both the term redneck and its literal manifestation, the red bandanna, in order to build multiracial unions of white, black, and immigrant miners in the strike-ridden coalfields of northern and central Appalachia between 1912 and 1936.
That hardly sounds like a Republican endeavor, does it? That’s because it wasn’t and isn’t. It’s DEMOCRATIC theology, children, and it is what the Democratic party has stood for all these years.
It is unknowing youth who are turning the Democratic party I have always supported into a spitting, spiteful, intolerant, uninformed assembly of foul-mouthed fools.
It’s false perception encouraged by popular culture. Everywhere but in the South Republicans are portrayed as “Rednecks”, and here in the South they’re “Country Club Republicans”. Thats what happens when the opposition can’t win in the free marketplace of ideas.
For all citing the civil rights movement and how it pushed “rednecks” to the Republican party, quit listening to MSNBC and do some research… ever heard of the term “Old South Democrat”? How about “Segregation now, segregation forever”? I’ll let you do the research to figure out which party used that one.
I guess around the same time the libs got labeled as drug users and baby killers. When Obama got elected.
Straw-man argument …They didn’t get labeled rednecks.
The opposition merely uses demonetization, slander and lies to label there political enemies…hoping the label will gain traction.
Mere Politics!
I would simply guess that the Republican party has dominance in the south and southern stereotypes carried over. An example is Republicans are less strict with gun laws and restrictions so we draw up and image of a gun totting redneck blasting raccoons and squirrels. Both parties get labeled and its wrong. So when ever the southern states switched from Democrat (which they were in the early american days) to Republican (which is present day) would be your answer.
That strong Southern influence. the less teeth, the more republican. The average meth lab kinda guy is likely to be republican.
Long before the obots tagged hillary supporters for being racist rednecks. So with that said I’lll say 2 days after the election.Awe sure I see no one remembers that.
I thought Democrats were the ones who care for working class whites and they insult them every chance they get.
