what us ur opinion of rednecks?

my opinion is that they are people just like anyone else.
People who generalize the whole bunch from a few selected bad ones are only showing they’re ignorance.

Every redneck i’ve ever encountered was staunch republican and supported ANYTHING that was against black people

maybe if i met more rednecks that were liberal i’d think differently of them

I feel the same about the stereotypes of the so-called ghetto Blacks from the “hood”, but they are ridiculed and looked down upon even worse than rednecks from the trailer parks. Not every Black person from the hood acts uncivilized and not all of them are criminals. My boyfriend sure as heck don’t fit those stereotypes. So I say to hell with stereotypes!

I am a redneck. I am straight edge. I was an A student throughout High School and am doing well in college. I am God fearing, tend to be moderate in my political views, and consider myself a patriot and a card carrying member of the NRA.

I believe in the separation of Church and State. I believe that we should be fiscally conservative, but should find ways to help our not so fortunate. I believe that you have a choice to be better in the world, if you so choose. You can be a victim, or you can be a leader of your life.

I believe that all people are different. And that most “Rednecks” I know are the single most decent people you will meet. I know rednecks from all over the US. From the Plains states, to the south and even in the northwest. They are folks from the country and tend to be christian and conservative. Redneck does not equal racist. I am so sick of that most ignorant statement. A person from the country is not slow. Nor stupid. And we do not think that the Civil war is still raging. I will guarantee you that our armed forces are full of Rednecks, kids from the heart land defending their country. I know rednecks who are of African Descent, I know a few that are Indian. They are proud of our simpler way of life and the values we place in morality, Religion and in dealing with each other. When a tornado comes and destroys whole swathes of land down here, do you see rednecks asking for hand outs? No you don’t. We take care of each other. We pay our bills, heard of insurance?

So in a nutshell, rednecks are great people. The stereotype of us wearing straw hats, missing teeth and largely being buffoons is a grotesque ancient stereotype and should be forgotten. We are polite. We say grace at meal time. We take care of our neighbors. We form communities that function and work together. Maybe the folks from the city should take a page from our book. Be polite, say hello. Smile once in a while. Act like a decent human being for a change.

So be nice to the rednecks. Its our kids that are fighting. Its the youth of the south and the plains and the mid west that protect our country. They are also the ones who are the first to help those who have nothing, or lost everything. A redneck will give you the shirt of his back to help you. Do not confuse us with Hicks (Thats another story) or white supremicist’s.
