What comes to mind is the South of course.
The south… but my summer home is in Missouri… and I really believe they all live there.
Cali> especailly LA> They’re just a different breed of rednecks over there.
ah rednecks are everywhere. in small towns, villages. redneck would probably be more associated with the southern states but they are everywhere.
The South/South-West. i.e., Texas, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia…
the south
the area between Mexico and Canada excluding Hawaii
Down South. The term ‘red neck’ would be erroneous up here in Boston.
All over everyplace has their share. But i would definatly say Mississippi,Alabama, Lousiana and South Carolina.
Rednecks are all over the country but I spent some time in West Virginia and it seems very backwards. That’s redneck heaven.
The term “redneck” can apply to a description of people from any area, but traditionally the South has had an unfair stereotype of having more than their share.
That would be the Southern part of the United States
Tennessee
south
like texas, mississippi, alabama
Traditionally from the South, or more accurately from a rural area.
Redneck is a reference to the kind of sunburn you get when wearing a T-shirt and spending a lot of time outdoors.
well most people that live in the country are very unhealthy but well i would associate the rednecks to texas then any other state
The southern states; states that were part of the Confederacy during the American Civil War. But that is only a vast generalization. A redneck shares cultural values (a pickup truck and a good hunting dog) rather than strict locations. Most urbanites in Atlanta are far from being rednecks.
Umm..
i guess
the south.
And i don’t like the term “redneck”
Just because somewhere wears rebel flag shirts, or wranglers, or boots, and hunts and fishes and stuff..
doesnt make them “rednecks”
I have never been to the south but I understand they’re all supposed to be there.
However, I live in Washington state on the west side, which is very liberal and diverse. On the east side of the mountains, it’s big time redneck country! It doesn’t so much seem like two different states but rather two different worlds!
… the southern U.S. States.
The expression comes from white men who do manual labor in the harsh sun and it turns their necks red. Most hats do not protect the neck from the sun.
U.S. Marines have the nick name Leather Necks for the same reason and Jar Heads because of their hair cuts.
like tennessee, arkensaw like south east ish…but Alabama has quite a few
Venture into any small town or village and you’re bound to find some ‘true’ rednecks that will answer by name.
Christ, they’re everywhere!
I know that the South—especially areas like Kentucky, Tenesee and Virginia—are usually associated with the term “redneck”, but believe you me, there are plenty of rednecks in the little backwater towns of Northern Michigan, too.
The Smokey Mountains. The term was coined to identify those railroad workers who wore red bandanas around their necks symbolizing their affiliation with organized labor. The term is about 70 years old. It has since come to identify “country or backwoods folk.”
The south–specifically Mississippi and Arkansas. Maybe some Alabamans, too.
