Rednecks are often ignorant. And that’s not a good thing.

Rednecks are ignorant and uneducated. There is nothing good about them.

Well..I happen to live in the middle of Redneckville where the forest are thick yet the hords of bigoted, hopeless, inbred rednecks are thicker.
But it’s a disservice to stereotype any group and ignore the good people everywhere.

Basically “Rednecks” are people who are ignorant to most of the world around them. It’s not really their fault the way they are, it’s how they were raised.

A redneck is a stereotype, often applied to people (or by the people themselves) who exhibit some of the traits that helped build and perpetrate the redneck stereotype, such as ignorance, a blind following of Christianity, a thick accent, and a narrow minded world view.

Rednecks get a bad rap..but Ive never met a redneck who would walk away from a person in need, and for that, I love em! If ya wanna know what is bad about them, they are not concerned with what others think of them…if you can call that bad..personally, I like “rednecks” but I should, Im totally married to one!

Hey Strawberry!

The term “Redneck” is a pejorative term today, but it began as something of a compliment many years ago. The word was used to refer to people who worked hard outside, and as a result, the person would get a tan on their neck.

I actually have a few Rednecks in my family. LOL. No joke! But I am not a Redneck. I try to have a positive influence on them.

Typically, a Redneck is someone who is kind of “country” or “backwoods.” In other words, they aren’t urban.

There are a lot of stereotypes about them- some of them are true.

I am from the Southern/Southeastern United States- and there are quite a few Rednecks here. I just visited Tennessee, and I saw some dudes there who really looked even more Rednecky than a lot of people here in Georgia (which is where I am from).

Some Rednecks are racist. Sad but true. But it is wrong to classify all Rednecks as racists. Some Rednecks are really good Christian people. Some are well educated. Many of them just enjoy the outdoors a lot, and enjoy fishing, hunting, living off the land, camping, etc. A lot of Rednecks (another stereotype) drive Pickup trucks. A lot of them like country music.

I love Rednecks- and I hope to have a positive influence on them if they have wayward ways or false beliefs about other races of people. It’s tragic that the South gets a bum rap for being uneducated and trashy- sure, there is a small portion of factuality to that stereotype, but by and large, it is false and without merit.

Happy New Year, by the way!!! : )

PS- you asked about the good qualities of Rednecks: there are many. Many Rednecks know how to grow their own vegetables and live off the land. Many of them are kind and friendly people. Some are strong Christians. A lot of them are sophisticated. Some aren’t. Some of them are such good hearted, patriotic Americans that they would literally give you the shirt off of their backs if you needed it.

I know wotcha mean sis. I mean we Rednecks are sword-o ignorant. I mean we still believe in the Golden Rule, we still honor our Fathers and our Mothers, we still say Mam and Sir, we still take a person at their word, we still work for a living instead of letting Good Ole Uncle Sam take care of us, heck sis we even set up with the sick at night and still carry food to the friends and loved ones and neighbors when someone is sick or dies. But every once in a while you will find a few of us that make it into College and become an Educated, welfare seeking person like the rest of the Human Race. But give us a few more 100 years and maybe we will catch-up, Not.
