I’m not really into stereotyping, but what do you think about it.
Do you think they should take it down.

I found this picture on someone’s myspace and her caption said “redneck enough for ya?”.

Its a symbol of racism that dates back to the era of reconstruction before the civil war was won. I think its a terrible thing. Sure our country still allows this freedom of expression, but its wrong. Racism is wrong and it shouldn’t be tolerated. I wish this flag were outlawed because it doesn’t represent the country as a whole. It represents the country that wants to go back towards the era of slavery and not move forward to equality.

It is a part of history and a lot of people look at it as a symbol of being a rebel.

People who fly this flag around rarely know what it stands for. They think it’s cool and a way to show their rebellious side, but little do they know it stands for everything this country stands against. I mean, we fought the war for a reason, because it was time to change.
I don’t know if the flag should be outlawed though. As part of our rights as an American, we’re allowed freedom of speech. Even if it means offending many with a flag. I just think it shouldn’t be waved in peoples faces like the picture portrays.
I think it’s funny that most rednecks are republicans, who support the nation now, yet it’s cool for them to fly around this flag.

Not all people who use the flag intend it as a symbol of hate in 2009. Some people use it as a symbol of what they call Southern Pride which celebrates their heritage. I’m orginally from NC and I saw the flag at state fairs and on t-shirts all the time. I don’t really like it because I associate the flag with racism and exclusion but they have the right to fly the flag. If she wants to be a redneck let her… it’s actually not anything I would be proud of. There are people who might use the flag who are ignorant of the flag’s implications so don’t judge everyone.

Racism at its best!
