I think it was called the Redneck twelve days of Christmas, but I haven’t been able to find anything on it by searching that title. All I know is that they made a mud man, put a kid in a giant inflatable snow globe for a Christmas parade and ate opossum on Christmas Day. I recently moved to the west coast and I find myself missing the zaniness that is a Southern Christmas.

I have a friend who referrers to herself as well as members of her family as rednecks. She has no problem saying this to me and I am black. At times I feel a little uncomfortable, because of my own interpretation of what a redneck is. If she calls herself this in front of me (black as I maybe) then maybe it isn’t what I thought it was?
