I often wonder how the UK sees the US. Are Southerners thought of differently than Northerners; if so Explain? I am a Southerner from South Carolina. In the US we are constantly thought of as “Racist Rednecks” who shoot guns, watch NASCAR, and spit tobacco. We are actually the most diverse of all of the US regions, are in general more generous, and produce more Scientists, and Engineers. We also have the headquarters for NASA in our region, so you can see that we are definitely not what the Northerners portray us as.

I mean, do Europeans really think all Americans are fat and stupid, or just some of them? I actually agree with them in many ways, but it’s not true for all Americans. I’m American and I am not stupid and definitely not fat and I know lots of Americans who are like me. I’m just wondering if Europeans really think we are all fat, stupid rednecks.
