No not always. I know rednecks, my whole family are rednecks. You just have to know the right ones.

I think rednecks purposely stereotype themselves as being stupid hicks who sit around watching Nascar and drinking beer, haha. My town is full of them, I think it’s kind of silly, especially after the “GIT ER DONE” phrase from that Blue Collar TV show seemed to catch on with everyone. Rednecks in themselves are a bit annoying, but the ones I really can’t stand are the homophobic/racist/sexist kind that are sometimes religious in a psychotic kind of way.

Gee…is this a stereotype or what? I’d have to know YOUR definition of redneck. Just because people live in rural areas, hunt and fish, drive a pickup…does that make them a redneck? I believe this pejorative description came from hardworking people who worked the land, therefore getting a sunburned (red) neck. Rednecks (as you call them) come in all kinds, just like any other group..urban, suburban..etc.
