I’d be interested to see evidence that anyone really reacted that way to mention of his liberal voting record. As for using his middle name, I think the response is pretty well justified. It’s not like he named himself and I’ve seen no evidence he ever even used the name himself (it’s not like he stopped at some point when he realized it wasn’t PC), so how is it relevant?

It may be hard to exploit this information in a Democratic primary, but be sure that McCain is going to have fun with it. It is probably impossible to united the country around an ultraconservative or a far left liberal. McCain and Hillary tend to be more toward the center and therefore they present a better opportunity for unification.
There are a lot of kids stuck with unfortunate names. Barack’s name is a disadvantage to him since we are having issues with Islamic fundamentalists, but he isn’t one and there are many fine Islamic people, so I wouldn’t sweat his name.

Who cares that Obama’s middle name is Hussein, that has nothing to do with anything of importance. Anyone who has an issue with that does have issues of their own to work out. Even bringing that up is an attempt of playing the race card against Obama, playing on people’s fear of Middle Easterners, so don’t complain when race is thrown back at you.
