So, it seems that 50% of Americans believe that Italians like Spaniards are not White. This information comes from an online survey.

I know some of you Rednecks did not graduate from High School. But please understand this.
Italians come from Italy, in Europe. They are Southern Europeans, just like Spaniards.
Now, some idiots see an Amerindian from Honduras, speaking Italian, and they believe that he is a Italian.
Not everyone who speaks Italian is a Italians.
Many Amerindians and blacks speak Italian. But they are not Italians.
African Americans speak english. But they are not British. Get it?
The fact that Puerto Ricans are predominantly black, says absolutely nothing about the people from Italy nore SPAIN.
Italians are white and European.

I’ve never concluded that Italians, or Spanish are not Europeans. As for Puerto Ricans, you can’t say everyone of them is black. I’ve been to Puerto Rico 5-6 times and part of the population has about 25% African American ancestry. Some Puerto Ricans are Spanish, some look like they have indigenous ancestry. They are a mixed bag. It’s a nice island, but the bars on every window doesn’t make me feel at home.
Who cares, why anyone thinks these things. Just be proud of you and move on. This is a wierd question by the way.
I have never seen someone who wanted to make sure they are known as white so much in my life. Why don’t you take your energy into something more greater like world peace!

I think the same of you. I’m an Italian girl (from the center of Italy): I have fair skin hazel eyes and light brown/dark blonde hair. But here in Italy everyone says I don’t seem an Italian girl. I’m don’t come from Sicilia but I know there are many many blue-eyed and blond-haired people because Norman invaded that area. Ciao tanti saluti!
Let me put it to you this way. Look at my profile picture. I’m an Arab and I’ve been mistaken for Italian much more than I’ve ever been mistaken for a white guy, white as in English white. People wouldn’t be calling Italians guineas if they viewed them as fully white.

racial definitions are stupid and arbitrary – “caucasian” actually means that you are from some mountains in russia. up until the last half of the 20th century “white people” was not the same as european in most people’s minds and more than half of people of european descent couldn’t claim to be white (slavic, polish, italian, greek, scottish, irish, welsh, etc…)

I know, I don’t get why *some* americans call them none white! I noticed quite a few americans on here calling them none white. I’m british and here in the UK and all across europe, southern europeans are called white and we certainly don’t view them as a different race to us!
I’ve been to a lot of places in Italy and also Spain etc and the colouring in those countries ranges a lot, there are blondes, people with blue eyes, people with pale skin, medium skin tone, olive skin, light brown hair, you name it! But darker hair is deffinitely more common in southern europe and so are darker eyes but how on earth would that make them none white? dark hair, dark eyes and olive skin are recognised white traits which appear in many europeans all across europe. My full british ex boyfriend had very tanned skin naturally and dark eyes with medium brown hair and he looked like an italian stereotypically and he is still white.
Why did you single out “rednecks”? a large percentage of those americans in that so called survey you failed to post a link to.. could be blacks or asians or something.

Nobody with a brain has ever said spaniards and italians are not white.
Hell, many arabs are actually white.
If italians were not white… they wouldnt have spent the last centuries portraying jesus and mary as white.
There are only 3 races. Black, white, asian.
If you arent one of those… you are a mix of some combination of those.
In fact, italians are the TRUE latins… not the latinos. The latinos are white, black or asian or a mix of those.
