i really hate my hick/redneck name. what are some better names?
my parents are really proud of our southern heritage even though we live in california now. my daddy is named Bobby Ray but everyone calls him Buddy. He even made my teachers call him “Buddy”. my mom’s name is Misty Mae.
My name is Vicki Lynn (what’s worse is that this is apparently Anna Nicole Smith’s real name) and my sister’s name is Peggy Sue. It really bothers me. I’m not redneck at all. I was born and raised in California, but my name makes me look like one of those trailer park, confederate flag people. no offense. and people give me a hard time for it.
my parents even insist that i name my children these type of names. what are some better ones that don’t sound that bad? what should i do about myself?

This sounds like something that is running deeper more than just a name. A name is just a name- it doesn’t define who you are, it’s just what someone calls you. Maybe just stop using your middle name when you introduce yourself. Vicki is a perfectly normal name and doesn’t have any sort of ‘redneck’ sound to it.
Are you married and pregnant? If not, worry about the name of the child when it is time.
Since you are from Cali, maybe it’s time to do the stereotypical Cali thing and see a therapist for your aversion to the common names of the south and your fear of being associated with the south. I live on the east coast and there’s always stereotypes about the south, but any frequent traveler knows the south has a rich full culture, beautiful aritecture and great communities. Try learning about some things in your heritigate that you can be proud of instead of believing stereotypes about yourself.

Rosalind are all gross ugly names…i like the user who said francheska and annabella those are gorgeous they sound like goddess and my friends name is francheska everyones always like i luv ur name i wish it was mine lol

If it really bothers you just tell people your name is Victoria.

Why don’t you call yourself Victoria, which is a little bit classier or even use your middle name…
Being honest with you, I don’t think people will even think of you as a trailer park girl unless you mention it. Just ignore it!
When you have children, go for a name what you like, not your parents and if it comes down to it just give it a hick middle name to please your parents.
