I wish I was a redneck
A redneck is an unashamed White person.
something along the lines of this
by the way all of the following I have Done or has been done around me.
1) hanging up beer cans with string then marking them with marker to spell out happy B-Day.
2) having a father that spits on the carpet of your living room.
3) scratching your privates in front of other people that are your grandparents.
the list goes on but you get the picture.
i’m a poseur redneck. it’s a derrogatory term for a stupid, poor, uneducated white person. their necks were red because they were laborers and worked in the fields. the black ones were called ni—rs and the mexicans are called be—rs.
i’m just a wannabe redneck.
port hueneme, california
I’m not a redneck. I’m from Southern Cali and rednecks are generally from the south.
Sorry BBHead I didn’t mean ALL rednecks are from the south there’s just lots there or where there’s lots of farming. But of course there are some here in Southern Cali too prolly. And not everyone from the south is a redneck.
i think of a redneck as being an ignorant/racist southerner.
im from michigan. im no redneck.
Im a redneck hell ya. Born and raised Iowan. And all of you above who threw out typical redneck stereotypes can kiss my ass. Obviously you never met a real redneck.
There are two theories of the origin of the term “redneck”. The first originated as a name for farmers who have spent so much time slumped over their horse drawn plows as they worked in the field that the sun turned their necks red. Farm life in those days was a very hard life. Though the farmers were not as ignorant as one might think, the higher class still looked down upon them because they were, after all, just farmers; and they were often times poor. These rednecks were intuitive, hard-working, and inventive, often making their own tools.
The second theory (better known for it’s historical accuracy) came about when employees of a West Virginia coal miners union tied red handkerchiefs around their necks to distinguish themselves from the non-union coal miners who were little more than slaves to their company. In those days it was a compliment to be called a redneck because it meant they were a of a higher social statis, they took pride in their work, and they had good morals and ethics. How and why the term came to include the lazy, ignorant, wife beatin’, n*gger hatin’, beer-drinkin’, inbred trailer park rabble with crooked teeth and crossed eyes, I may never know.
I am just a good ole country boy, born and bred. Though I’m not a farmer or coal miner, I have spent nearly half my life working outside in the woods as a logger. I hunt and fish, I play the banjo, live in a log house, drive a 4wd pickup truck, and I proudly display the Stars and Bars (without prejudice I might add). I also work very hard, I am polite and considerate, I have a college degree, and use better English than most people on this site. I am an example of what a redneck should be. Don’t believe what Hollywood movies portray as “redneck” either; they don’t have a clue.
I’m from the beautiful, rolling hills of Western Pennsylvania (especially beautiful this time of year
I’m living in Florida (moving back up to NY metro, thankfully!) right now, and I have to tell you, my experience with the locals…
8-ball says: outlook not good. Lots of bad haircuts, bad teeth, nascar jackets, woodland camoflauge, deep-fried diets, cross-over top-40 country-pop, 19 year olds with 3 kids, and grammar that would make a six year old moan.
I know someone’s going to get all insulted, but I’m just telling you what I encounter daily. I’ve met some normal people here, too, haha.
And certainly, that’s not to say that NYers don’t have our own brand of white-trash
I’m a Hick or Yokel — relative of the Red Neck.
