Help for finding a name in a sticky situation!?

17

I’m 17 years old. I’ll be 18 in 3 months. However, I’m 7 months pregnant with twins from my boyfriend of 4 years. Please don’t say we’re stupid or whatever, we used a condom but it obviously didn’t work. He has given me a promise ring and has stepped up to the plate tremendously. Now here’s the thing, we come from a small redneck town. Almost everyone is a redneck. I’m white and my family is rednecks but my boyfriend is black. My family has been very accepting of his race but they are adamant about the naming style. They don’t want me to have ‘black/ghetto’ names. Neither do I. l don’t want a Jamel or Kanisha or something like that. My boyfriend is a junior after his dad, Frank. But l don’t want to name my son after him in case we do break up. Frank has two half brothers that are mixed that are named Austin and Aiden. Those names don’t make you think of a ghetto family which is what i want. I don’t want you to hear my children’s names and think, ‘what in the world?’. Now we are having a boy and a girl… What could be good names that are still country-ish but alright for mixed kids? I love the names Levi Wyatt, Tyler James, Elliot Wayne for boys and Daisey Lynn, Ketti Grace, and Ava Monae for girls. I don’t want the names too ‘black’ but I don’t want them too ‘white’ either. Any help?

I like those names too, but I suggest discussing it with your boyfriend, since they are his kids too, instead of asking random people on Yahoo Answers :3

I’m probably not much help as I’m from the UK and things may be different over here – names that are not specifically ‘black’ or ‘white’ peoples’ names are the tradtitional ones such as: William, Henry, Edward, Thomas, Charlie and James. For girls it would be Anna, Catherine, Daisy is nice, I agree – Evie, Phoebe, Sophie, Annabel and Grace. Best of luck and congratulations! xx

I love Levi Wyatt and Tyler James!
What about Ava Grace for a girl? Monae does sound slightly “ghetto”, especially if the person is of mixed race.

I like Tyler James & Ava Grace :)

I like Elliot…but not so much Wayne…Elliot James?

And my favourite of the girls is Daisey Lynn.

Other sugestions would be Ella, Gabrielle or Ariana.

Xx Hope that helped a bit.

You do have a sticky situation.

I like the names you have, my favourites are Levi Wyatt & Tyler James. For the girl I like Ava Monae.

I think they are good names.

Good luck with the new arrivals, hope you pick the perfect names.

I’m not sure what counts as ‘white’ or ‘black’ or ‘country’ where you live.

I like most of the names you’ve mentioned (except maybe Ketti, Monae, or Wyatt), but don’t really like the two-name combo – is that ‘country’? Favourites from your list: Daisey (lovely name!), Grace, Ava; James, Elliot, Tyler.

Other names I like: Annabelle, May, Laine. Sam, Ben, John.

Wow twins!!! I’m not going to judge you at all, I’m 19 and my boyfriend is 17 (almost 18) we’ve been to together for 3 years. We’ve had our pregnancy scares too, so i fully understand how it happens, and no matter what we would take full responsibility for anything that happens. Its not really something that you want to happen at a young age but sometimes it happens. Its just going to be more of a challenge but still will always love them the same, that’s how I think of it. Especially with twins!!!

I love the names Tyler James, and Ava Monae.
I think they are perfect names :)

I wish you the best of luck to you :)

I to am from the UK and it is very different here – still here goes, these are simply names I like that are not biased towards race.
Girls – Kitty, Evie, Dottie, Grace (popular choice), Ava (lovely), Martha, Tiffanie, Summer
Boys – Harrison, Mitchell, Campbell, Elliot (lovely), Colby, Finn or Finlay.

Ultimately though, you will be calling these babies by whatever name you choose for years, choose wisely and choose something you really like – Good Luck xx
