Does the name Barrett sound like a redneck to you?
For some reason, I feel it may be a little rednecky…haha. I DO live in the south but don’t want to fall into the hick-sounding names. What do you think?
for a boy btw-Barrett Asa
TNC-good grief…if that offends you, you have a lifetime of letdowns ahead of you. It’s JUST a name.
Haha! Very true, Me. I don’t know how many Bubba’s I know.

i don’t think that it sounds like a redneck name
it does lol…to me at least
I am highly offened by this question. My grandfather who was named Barret DIED fighting for his country and for the freedom of people like you. I bet he would be rolling around in his grave if he knew people were being rude enough to insult his name.
yeh
Well im not even joking when i say this. One of my best friends surname is Barrett. So, for me it just sounds like a surname, one which shouldn’t be used as a first name.
yes it does sound redneck. i too live in the south (Mississippi, ya’ll) jk bout the ya’ll! But i am not redneck, hillbilly, country or any of that. But think it does as well as other names like Darrel (Dar-uul)!
yes it does and i live in the south too
Barrett isn’t that southern… I know someone named Barrett who lives in Michigan
It does sound a little redneck to me, but I can only speak for myself. If you like it, don’t let people’s opinions change yours.
No it does not sound like a redneck name to me. We rednecks usually stick to names easily pronounced. Like Bubba, or Larry !!
I like the name Barrett. I’m southern (VA, TX, and TN) as well and have only known one Barrett. It happened to be a girl given her mothers maiden name, and I always thought it was a little strange since it’s so much more masculine to me. The masculinity of the name isn’t even a question though! So, NO, its not redneck at all!! Redneck to me would be like Johnny Ray, Rusty, Jimmy, Billy Joe, etc! I think it’s handsome
Barrett sounds like one of old glorious Wild West names from past centuries. It sounds veeery good to me. Like Wyatt, or Randall. And it’s not overused.
no, things like garret, jake, rusty, jimmy, bo, luke, Wyatt! and for females…. Mary ann, Mary kay, Mary jo, Mary kaye, annabelle, billy jo, avalon, betty lou… oh what the hell i knew me and my family were redneck hillbillies but i just noticed somethin. my uncles names are Jimmy!, Wyatt, heath, and my best cousins name is Garrett! and my grandmas name is Mary Kay
