Do christians like the fact that the general stereotype of them is now an ignorant hate spewing redneck bigot?
Christians on here hate it when people “generalize” but I’m just wondering, don’t you think there might be a problem with your religion if this is how it’s being portrayed to non-believers?

Yes i do like that fact
actually Christians always go with the majority (of Christians) so your description of them is not only accurate but is worn as a badge of courage.
We actually dont really care what the general public thinks about it. Their judgements do not matter. gg scrub.
Hey, y’all, just because I live in a trailer, watch Nascar, and chew Skoal Bandit doesn’t make me a Christian.
That about sums them up. You forgot narcissistic
But it’s true! They are ignorant, hate spewing, redneck bigots!
It’s unfair to generalize like that. Most aren’t. A lot of them are a bunch of Rod and Tod Flandresses and later become very gay men.
I have never heard of this “generalization”.
Perhaps you just made it up and want to hurt Christians in a new way. You lose….. Don’t you have a cat to bathe or something?
Not me man,
I’m a player, not a hater of the game my friend.
We’re not rednecks either man, I know a few, and let me tell you we don’t drive tractors or 4×4 trucks on the way to work.
your right! Alha all the way …all the way to the dark ages…
brainwash me now, o lord o lord.
La la la la la
Actually, I do like that stereotype because of the source. Its easier to set yourself apart from the dark spirits when they set themselves apart for you.
Of course there’s a problem. The number of people attending church has declined rapidly over the past few years. Show them the redneck and the christians will elect him king.
mmm…I thought atheist were for separation of church and state?? To answer your question…what I would do as a christian is not what is best for my country. For instance, I am to forgive my neighbor 70 times 7 a day. You can see why the government cannot do this, right? I give to the poor and actually believe that it’s the church’s job. I do not think it is the government’s job however.
I am for the death penalty but I believe in prison ministry. They can spend eternity in heaven but there has to be consequences to actions to protect the citizens of the US…
I think People take a hand full of Christians, and try to make everybody out like those Christians. I would like it when people thought of Christians, they wouldn’t just think of Hitler but Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King ect ect. It’s Really Unfair once you think about it.
Lol. Im a christian (not a very devoted one though) and even I think thats how a lot of christians are!
>>don’t you think there might be a problem with your religion if this is how it’s being portrayed to non-believers?< <
Not any more than I think there "might be a problem" with Judaism if this is how it's being portrayed to non-believers:

no there is nothing wrong with our religion
people who do not understand have always laughed at and made fun of those who are different.
that does not mean they are correct.
just because a person laughs at some one and makes fun of them does not mean the person laughed at is wrong.
We know the truth because of God. the world who disbelieves does not know God and laughs at those who do.
I’m ashamed of them myself …
John 3:16 is a beautiful verse for salvation, yes …. why don’t you include verse 17 as well ?????
For God sent His Son into the World, not to condemn them but to save them … not to condemn them He said
Only God knows what happens to the once receptive heart when condemned, He said don’t do it.
No. The rednecks you are referring to are the KKK. They claim that their work is God’s work. WRONG!!! Next time you bash someone do your homework.
i like to differentiate between american christians and the rest of them
The gospel of Jesus Christ is a big problem for unregenerate men.
It cuts them to the quick.
They announce they are free men yet can’t break free of mocking, ridiculing and instead just live their lives.
Your own example splendidly backs this up.
If ” the shoe fits”.
the problem is that nonbelievers go by what they see on tv and other media forms, which always has an agenda, and reports the most zealous sides of things.
the other problem for those who know christians believe they are the same. which is stereotyping and bigotry.
however, it is in the human nature tocategorizee and label….its the way our minds work naturally. Its something that has to be recognized and avoided in all people.
And it is upsetting when people who say they are christian, but dont follow Christ in their ideas or fellowship…..but the fact that the nonbeliever cant recognize that shows how little they know of Christianity, and therefore their stereotyping is from ignorance.
Why the hell would any one like that stereotype?
Probably about the same amount as Jews like being portrayed as whiney money-grubbing, complaining victims. It’s not a problem with the religion, it’s with the bigots who can’t see past thier own noses, and feel the need to generalize and put down any group they don’t agree with.
Non-believers, like everyone else, have a responsibility not to stereotype and generalize. Blaming your targets for your behavior isn’t healthy.
hello,
i’m unconcerned about what the world thinks at this stage in my life.
when i lived my life like it might end at any second.when i was drug addicted, and drunk 24/7.when i was a menace to society,in all aspects of it’s meaning.
even then,i respected people of faith,if even for their devotion and loyalty.
people who in general snub their nose at everyone,or a paticular group, usually are shallow in character, lack respect, and in general are…..well….pie holes
It’s sad but it’s the only real downside of being a believer.
This stereotype stems from ignorant people who judged based on a certain group of “believers”. Jesus was, in a way, stereotyped and had his fair share of troubles with ignorance and such so i’ve really no problem being stereotyped.
Life is what it is.
PS
Not every believer is judgmental and cruel. Quite honestly, it’s not our job to judge anyone in the first place.
Not at all, Jesus said they will hate us because they hated him. We expect it, but we are still here because we love you and want you to know the truth. All anyone has to do is ask God for it is written:
Matthew 7:8-12 (New International Version)
8For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.
9″Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! 12So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets
So ask for the truth from God directly and find it. But know if we did not care about you we would not even be here, trying to tell you there is a better way and a better life you can have through Jesus.
take care.
No. The problem is with the nonbelievers. That’s like asking blacks what they think about the stereotypes racists have of them (watermelons, etc).
I don’t like that stereotype and I’m atheist.
I also don’t like the stereotype that many Christians have of atheists being heartless, cold, depressed, mean, “lost” people.
THEY MIGHT NOT LIKE IT BIT THAT MEANS DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT THERE ARE TO MANY JUDGMENTAL CHRISTIANS THAT MAKE THEY SELF OUT TO BE HYPOCRITES THE BIBLE SAYS WE ONLY HAVE ONE JUDGE THAT’S YAHWEH NOT MAN THE GOD OF ISREAL DON’T TEACH DIVISION AND CHRISTIANITY IS JUST THAT FOR EXAMPLE BAPTIST DON’T LIKE APOSTOLIC FAITH ALL THE DISAGREEMENTS OF THE JEHOVAH WITNESS THIS IS BECAUSE THEY TURNED FROM THE LAWS OF YAHWEH THE GOD OF ISREAL TO TEACH MAN’S RELIGION THEREFORE THEY DO NOT PROVOKE THE CONFUSION OF THEIR OWN FACES JEREMIAH 7 VERSE19
I’m with David. Of course I think if Christians come across like that then it’s on us. We are different people of course and I don’t mind that at all. I don’t want to come across as stuck up unloving person. The thing is people misunderstand us, because we love so much and are truly blessed by what God has done for us we want to give all the glory to God. Example: If I come with a brand new mercedes car and everyone is like “oh look at you, with the brand new car” I didn’t buy that car God blessed me with that car because I follow his commands tithe, love, etc. God is love and love is God. We are supposed to be Christ like. I “generalize” myself as a sinner saved by grace. Anyone can be saved that is why God is so amazing…You can come as you are!! No matter what you have done.
I bet a jew said this, that’s not even a stereotype because there are so many christians from various races, ethnicity’s and places. Rednecks are rednecks no matter what there religion is. I got a stereotype for you, jews have big noses, don’t take showers, cant drive cars, and are cheap- all true. Non believers portray your religion as outdated, dumb and wrong. This is why your people have been bullied around since it began, we got some problems but you guys are the bitches of history, also not a stereotype. Go kill our savior again!!!!
your user name says it all to me.
