not all rednecks are racist and not all racists are rednecks, you are completely right about how ignorant it is,

mianjo413 @ 7:15 am #

not all rednecks act this way, I have met some very nice ones

Sweetie, many rednecks are ignorant. They weren’t raised to know any better. However when you type like that and spell incorrectly YOU look like the ignorant one. If you are literate, act like it. Maybe then people will treat you with more respect.

slavco_vosyemnadstatiy @ 8:31 am #

first of all, if you want to use the term rednecks, then you cannot encompus all “redneck” type people. It depends where and how they were raised!

Creolegirl @ 9:01 am #

the term redneck is a stereotype word… a true racist is, in fact, ignorant…

The term “redneck” is also a name with a negative connotation.

For what it’s worth, I offer the following advice based on my life’s experience only:

Feel sorry for those who aren’t able to understand and embrace differences in people. But don’t allow yourself to sink to the same level and confront the ignorant. Life is too short to spend your time trying to force a change in people. Instead, the best you can do is live your life as an example of someone who truly understands, accepts and enjoys the fact that people are different. Perhaps by walking-the-talk and being “the example” on a daily basis, you’ll cause others (even rednecks) to want to change.

maxpowr90 @ 10:54 am #

not all of them but they tend to be a bit anachronistic.

Macgor @ 11:44 am #

Too much of a generalization for me. Like any group, some rednecks are racists, but do you know what the term really means?
Rednecks came from farmers who worked out in the sun and the back of their necks got red.
So rural folks are generally more conservative and some even racist.
If it’s at school, then call them who they are. If they’re not farmers they are racists and bigots and narrow minded people.

Jovovo @ 11:47 am #

I think rednecks are more misled than anything else – they simply don’t know any better and perhaps someday they’ll learn that spending your life judging others and being afraid of something you don’t no is no reason to treat people differently.

How do I feel about them? I pity them, mostly, and feel saddened that in this day and age, rednecks are still out there. I feel that with more education, their opinions would be different and they maybe wouldn’t be the people they are. Of course, it’s not just education, it’s upbringing. Rednecks spur rednecks, however. Starting at home would be a great way to curtail some of the racism in the world.

And hey, I hope at your school they have a no-tolerance policy and come down rather harshly on anyone who treats others with anything other than respect.

I live in a so-called “redneck town”, and I do hear a lot more racism around here than in a bigger city. Why? I think, at least in the case of my town, it’s small, and the poulation is 99% white (when I was in highschool, there was only 1 or 2 African-Americans there), so they’ve never been exposed to other cultures other than what they see on tv and hear in music. Unfortunetly for blacks, rappers tend to portray themselves and everyone else of their color as thugs, pimps, and whores, which even though it’s only supposed to be entertainment and not taken seriously, there’s so many that does it that people may start to think, “hmm, maybe there’s some truth to that.”

Plus, the main cause of racism anywhere is the way people are brought up. If their parents are intolerant, then their children are going to grow up not knowing any better. And like I said, around here kids don’t get a chance to be exposed to other cultures so they don’t have any first hand experience to make them think what their parents taught them is wrong.

Yes its Racist, but don’t judge the “rednecks” until you walk a mile in their shoes. They have their reasons why they called those black people names. Just like how black people call whites names as well.

You would have a different perspective on a race if all you ever saw of that race was a negative example of them. The big city close to me is 80% black and has a outrageous amount of crime.

I’m not saying what those guys said was right, but they have the right to say anything they want, and who are we to judge?

carora13 @ 2:14 pm #

No, not all of us rednecks and hillbillies and other white american groups are racist. Sure there are “bad apples,” but they exist in every group no matter the ethnic or racial background. Stereotyping can lead to a lot of wrong assumptions.

beachy @ 3:08 pm #

noone needs to change their beliefs on anything, the foreigners coming over here don’t even bother to learn our language. if you don’t like what someone thinks, avoid them. maybe if you spoke proper english instead of this ghetto slang “da” and the rest of your made up words, people would respect you more.

Lilium Löffler @ 3:39 pm #

hey don’t talk about me like that negro

and ps- im not changin my beliefs for anyone especially no darkies
