When that fabled day comes and this guitar arrives on the stage, the world will never be the same. Ikon Customs, a maker of imaginative guitars, created this instrument in the image of the dark lord.

This was filmed on 11-17-2011 in Decatur Alabama at Turkey Toss 2011 with Rick & Bubba. The Rednecks brought the Trebuchet they built to launch Watermelons when simulating an Asteroid to see if they could figure out how to down the Asteroid. The Dad would shot the watermelons out of the sky. Today they launched Turkeys for distance. Watch the video to see how far they flew. Sorry for the windy vid

Metalachi performs rock and metal songs using instruments and styles from the mariachi tradition. Their covers include selections from Metallica, Led Zeppelin, and Faith No More. Here’s their rendition of a Guns N’ Roses classic. The brass instruments are really effective with this song, and the lead singer does a good impersonation of Axl Rose at the end.

Snapshots normally capture narrow slices of time, but photographer Michael Chrisman preserved an entire year. He aimed a pinhole camera at Toronto’s skyline and exposed the photosensitive paper inside on January 1, 2011. He then closed the aperture precisely one year later.

This one is pretty neat: biologists at UC San Diego created a living "neon signs" made from glowing bacteria that fluoresce in unison:

In order to create the light they needed to attach a fluorescent protein to the biological clocks of bacteria and then synchronise the body clocks of the bacteria within the colony so that they glowed on and off in unison. The team created signs that spelled out "UC SD".

Using the same technique they used to create these flashing signs, the team also created a simple bacterial sensor capable of detecting arsenic. This sensor would make the cells blink on and off more slowly, indicating the presence of the poison.

We’ve all been in a situation when a bathroom experience would only be enhanced if there were realistic presentations of supervillains trying to break through the wall and kill us. Probably daily. So rileyreplicas, a forum user at The PF, made one for a friend’s husband. The site is currently down, so I can make no guarantee about what you’ll find at the link. But you can also visit Geekologie to see more pictures. That’s a good idea, because this one photo doesn’t do justice to the extensive modifications to the entire bathroom.
